Well, I got caught up last week on another adventure and didn’t get around to posting a couple of more doors from Filoli. The landscaping at Filoli was too beautiful to get sidetracked by a doorscursion so I didn’t get as many doors as I would have liked; here are a couple of doors from the outside.
This is a great door to enter or exit the gardens.
And, this is a great side-door to enter and exit the mansion.
The next photos are from my adventure to southern California to see the super bloom; I wasn’t expecting to see any doors on this adventure but I got half of a barn door with the bloom in the background mountains from the Carrizo Plain National Monument.
At Antelope Valley, I found this old shed at a cattle corral; no doors but lots of openings.
And while I got to see some fantastic scenes of the super bloom in the Carrizo Plain and Antelope Valley, this is a shot of the super bloom on the mountains in Antelope Valley from a rural road as we headed home from that adventure.
Thank you for visiting my post and thanks again to Norm 2.0 for his creation of the Thursday Doors website that gives us bloggers an outlet to let our thoughts be put on paper or in this case, web space. For more posts and photos of doors by others please go to: Thursday Doors.
That first one seems to have so much detail in the carving. It’s simply stunning.

Thank you, Norm. It was amazing that it was an entrance door to the gardens but I guess when money is no object you can install majestic doors on anything!

There are gorgeous doors at Filoli. I have a friend who works there. I posted a similar door as one of my first submissions to Thursday Doors a few years ago.

Looking at it again, it might even be the same door, a month or two later when the roses are blooming! (We went on Mothers’ Day)

Thanks, Karen; your friend has an envious job. I wished I had more time to spend there but it was crowded with people celebrating a break in the rainy weather and Spring. If you went on Mother’s Day, that certainly was a treat!

Oh my, these are special! This must have been an amazing time, on and off camera. That first door is just gorgeous, as is the scenery throughout.

Thank you so much, Manja! The “plus” photos were from our first time visiting the Carizo Plain and Antelope Valley to see this year’s Super Bloom and it was nature’s full display of how beautiful our planet “can” be. Unfortunately we do run into too many people that don’t learn the rules and trample the flowers to get their selfies and we came across one guy and a couple of women harvesting flowers in Carizo by the bunches; I had to approach them to request that they please don’t pick the flowers and the guy looked perplexed and responded, “ but the flowers will die in a couple of weeks anyway”. I told him this was a federal park and it’s against the law to do so but the damage was already done. It was sad to see but I did what I could; sadly, there are many more stories of stupidity around the Super Blooms. I posted more Super Bloom photos on my Flickr site; try to google me, Gordon Choy on Flickr to see them; if not I can send you a link.

These are some great images! I really like the old barn that is starting to fall apart.

Don’t why I didn’t see this post – this is one reason I love California, which probably has an influence on the light you see in my paintings. You captured these colors of the super bloom stunningly!! it was worth the trip:):)
